Meteora, one of the largest monastery complexes in Greece, is distinguished primarily by its unique location on the top of cliffs. The first troglodytes settled here long before the 10th century. Today there are six active orthodox monasteries included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The cliffs reach 600 meters in height and are a rare geological phenomenon.
